Trader Joe's Expansion to Begin Soon

The Brentwood Trader Joe's announced expansion should be complete by the end of July.

A Trader Joe’s ‘mate’ (manager), Jimmy Spinelli, said permits are issued to begin construction for the store’s growth into the former Beauty First space, next door.

Spinelli said the goal is to finish the work by the time Washington University students return. The expansion will increase the popular grocery store’s space by about a third.

“As you can see, we can use it,” Spinelli said.

A checker said long lines go from approximately 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends.

Not surprisingly, the parking lot was as packed as the store, at around 5 p.m. on Sunday. As a matter of fact, Patch happened to see a fender bender in front of Trader Joe’s on this visit.

In addition to the Trader Joe's expansion, another 20,000 square feet of retail space is under construction at the north end of The Promenade, where Shane Co. was before it moved to Olivette.
