April 14: Local Coop Tour; Silex, MO Poultry Event, Farmers' Market

Two upcoming poultry events in nearby northwest Missouri, near Silex, Saturday April 14th

Our local backyard chicken Meetup group is having a coop tour generously hosted by the Kruegers, members of the list.

If you are not already a member, please consider joining and please be sure to RSVP. Details are listed at this site for the rendezvous.

This event takes place on Saturday, April 14, and is coinciding with a nearby event called The River Hills Farmers Market Poultry and Small Stock Expo.

It is a day-long event starting at 8 a.m. and admission is free.  It features rare and heritage poultry and small stock breeds for sale and on display, and offers opportunities to speak with seasoned veterans on care and husbandry.

Various demonstrations, a large farmers' market, a stock auction, and youth activities are also offered.

Silex is about one hour northwest of St. Louis off Highway 61, and this will be at the Silex R-1 School.

I have never been there and am excitedly planning on attending both events. I believe that contact information can be gleaned (apologies if wrong) from River Hills at 136 Zumwalt Road, Silex, MO 63377 or (660)456-7565 or (573)458-7261.

There will also be a Fall Poultry show on September 8, among other things a best rooster and best egg contest, I'll post more as the time gets nearer. Mark your calendars, I'll see ya there! Dorene
