New Chicks Arriving Everywhere!

Congratulations! Are your new chicks in the mail today? Are you considering chicks but have yet to take the plunge? Read on.

Ah, it seems that the local friends on my Backyard Chicken Meetup List are all getting their chicks this week and next.  So many worried "new chick" families out there, so much Spring excitement in the air!

It is always a pleasure to work with people who have carefully researched and prepared for the arrival of their new chicks.  These people may have attended one of the continuing education conferences such as offered at , or attended lectures given by a growing number of experts in chicken venues.  Thoughtful planning and knowledge only enhance the enjoyment of these fascinating new little creatures in our lives.

For those of you considering chickens, I have written a bibiography of chicken literature resources which is available on the St. Louis Meetup site; I will also be adding it to my site, soon.  Networking is always a valuable tool, and there are several private consultants in the area, as well as online resources and local groups that share the common interest of backyard birds.

Tomorrow I will discuss various ways of aquiring chickens, and will try to post a picture of some of mine.  Happy Tuesday,
