Win Prizes For Holiday Home Decorations in Brentwood

The Brentwood Parks and Recreation Department is running its second annual home holiday decorations contest.

If you're a holiday decorating fanatic, the wants to reward you.

The department is running its second annual Holiday Home Decorating Contest, pitting the Clark Griswolds (National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation) of Brentwood in a battle to determine holiday spirit dominance. And with weather forecasts predicting a dry weekend, the next few days may be your best opportunity to showcase your spirit.

"We want to get the residents involved," said Tracey Whitaker, the program coordinator for the parks department. She said the contest is part of the department's effort to increase community interactivity.

While the city ran a similar program several years ago, it was put on hiatus until Whitaker kickstarted the contest last year. Four households signed up last December, and the top three winners received gift cards and other goodies. The 2009 winners were:

  • First Place: Charles Conway and Ann Dunford, 2525 High School Dr.
  • Second Place: Trevor Griffin, 2429 High School Dr.
  • Third Place: John Kintz, 28 Sussex Dr.

Only three households have signed up this year. Whitaker extended the original deadline of Dec. 1 in order to draw in more participation.
