Soup Supper Fundraiser - Maplewood United Methodist Church

Last Spring our boiler, that heats 95% of our church building, sprung a leak. This boiler has been on
its last legs for several years, but we have been able to patch it up and keep it running. Now it
needs to be replaced.
A new boiler has been ordered and hopefully it will be in and operational around the first of
November. The cost of replacing the boiler is $36,000. The boiler is $28,000 and a new steel flue
liner $8,000. We hope we will be able to use or present heating unit and if so we can save $3.000.
Ad Council authorized borrowing $18,000 and using some existing funds to pay for the boiler. We
have been offered a challenge grant of $5,000 and have $1,000 already given toward that goal.
This Saturday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm we are having a soup supper to help raise money toward
that challenge grant. The cost is $5.00 or any amount you would like to give.
