No Cost Professional Development Events From Discovery Education Support Missouri Educators Implementing Common Core State Standards
Discovery Education, the
global leader in standards-based digital content for K-12, is hosting a series
of professional development events at no cost supporting St. Louis-area
educators grappling with the implementation of the Common Core State Standards. During Discovery Education’s Common Core
Academies, teachers and administrators will learn practical instructional
strategies for using digital media and other educational technologies they can
immediately implement supporting the integration of the Common Core State
Standards into classroom instruction.

leaders in the world of education with decades of experience in professional
development, the Academies will cover the following:
Literacy
and the Common Core in a Digital World (Wednesday, Nov. 13): This session offers English Language
Arts (ELA) instruction and assessment strategies to support the development of
digitally literate students to prepare them for college, careers, and
citizenship.

Teaching and Assessing Common Core Math in a
Digital World (Thursday, Nov. 14):
An exploration of the Standards for Mathematical Practice and their
successful implementation with assessment strategies, this session will

Leadership Strategies to Support Digital Literacy
and the Common Core (Friday, Nov. 15): This session will offer practical leadership approaches for administrators that will help support teachers in their implementation of digital literacy instruction and assessment.
