Brentwood Student Lives Democracy for a Week

He was one of a thousand students from across Missouri.

Brentwood senior Lucas Jones recently lived pure democracy for a week.

Jones was chosen to participate in The American Legion Boys State of Missouri for his leadership, citizenship, academics and character during his junior year at Brentwood High School.

Boys State was June 15-22 on the campus of the University of Missouri in Warrensburg. Almost a thousand students from across the state were selected to participate.

The students built a full functioning democratic community during the week. They conducted the business of governing cities, and everything that went into supporting those governments.

Jones was a citizen of Gambrel City, a member of the Nationalist Party, a recycling coordinator and an election judge in a municipal election. He attended Law Enforcement School while participating in Boys State.
