Euro 2012 Soccer: Final Four – Italy vs Germany, Spain vs Portugal.

See highlights from Spain and Italy victories, plus a look at the teams ready to clash in the semi finals.

Weekend Highlights

Sunday's game: See ESPN highlights of Italy's penalty kick shootout win over England.  Italy dominated the game and were very deserving of the victory.

Saturday's game:  See ESPN highlights of Spain's victory over France.  Spain didn't play its best game, but it did enough to beat France 2-0.

Semi finals

Spain vs. Portugal: Wed. June 27,  1:45

Spain will be trying to keep it's crown and make it to the finals to have a chance at being the first national team to win three consecutive major tournaments.

Portugal is playing well and Chrisitiano Ronaldo has Portugal believing this could finally be their year.

Germany vs. Italy:  Thr. June 28, 1:45

Germany the clear favorite, but Italy really surprised with their play against England.  This looks like a German victory "on paper", but Italy's deep roots and great success in international soccer should make this game interesting.

At the beginning of the tournament, the two favorites were Germany and Spain.  Now they are one win away from meeting in the finals.  I think Germany should make it through, but Portugal could be the hot team at the right time to take down the reigning Champions Spain.

I hear you. today's game was not a game of much attacking. Hmmm...random thoughts: teams get so conservative in these final rounds...would it even allow for the emergence of a hero in the bracket rounds? Unfortunately Lionel Messi wasn't 100% health for last world cup to display his brilliance. I'm sure most soccer fans/analysts who have thoughts on this. I hear you though, so many major tournaments end w/ teams playing not to lose. Germany and Spain are so loaded with balanced talent that the "teams" are 'works of art', but the stars definitely seem to be catalyst of the 'team engine' as opposed to individual brilliance. I love team's that play as teams, but maybe WCup 2014 will bring an individual who 'stands above'.

Hi Paul. i may be missing others, but i remembered last night the performance of Zinedine Zidane in the 1998 World Cup. That was the WC that France won in France. Zidane, to me, was an amazing combination of captain's leadership, central midfield intelligence/touch, and opportunistic goal scorer. He turned in a legendary performance in that Cup. Unfortunately, he'll be remembered by many for losing his cool and head butting an Italian player in the 2006 World Cup final. But in '98 he was everything you could want out of a captain. So in my 'recent' memory, he comes to mind.

Hi Betserai,
Who are you picking today? Germany or Italy? I have to go with Germany. I think Germany could win easily 3-1...but we'll see.

I was just thinking, if you happen to see something.....like the sign in front of City Hall, or theRead More sign in Schnuck's parking lot....regarding something going on in Brentwood, now you can click on the "Post" board at the top of the page, and let people know what is happening in Brentwood. We have the new format so we can now post whatever we want. Just click and post. Anyone can do it too.

I doubt this discrepancy you think exists is because the editors have more of a connection toRead More Maplewood. I imagine it is because Maplewood officials and Chamber of Commerce members send press releases to the editors regarding upcoming events and news items. If you want your local community to have more of a presence in the Patch, I suggest you contact the proper officials in Brentwood and urge them to send such notices. Self-promotion for a community is a good thing, although in the case of Brentwood Days and other iconic Brentwood events, it was my understanding that the city didn't want it publicized and preferred it to be a smaller event.
