MCBF is working hard for the Maplewood Community

The MCBF is an organization that works to benefit Maplewood through scholarships, a retail loan program, and the summer concert series. The MCBF is hosting a trivia night on February 23rd.

Have you heard about the Maplewood Community Betterment Foundation (MCBF)?  You may be aware of some of thing things we do in the community but not associate it with us.  The most notable projects as of late include publicizing the “Maplewood-The First Hundred Years” history book and creating the “I Love Maplewood” T-shirts. For the most part though, we are a low key organization that works behind the scenes to make Maplewood a better place to live and work. For funding, we rely heavily on the proceeds of our only fundraiser, our Annual Trivia Night event.

Let me tell you about some of the things that the MCBF does for the Maplewood Community:

The Summer Concert Series: The summer concert series is one the most highly regarded traditions in Maplewood. Each summer, Maplewoodians gather with their friends, family and neighbors at Ryan Hummer Memorial Park to relax and enjoy each other and live entertainment free of charge. There are six concerts held throughout the summer. This upcoming year we have some great bands lined up highlighted by Bob Kuban (honored in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s exhibit on one-hit wonders) and a Johnny Cash tribute band.

Last summer, we hosted our first annual Concert for A Cause where the August concert doubled as a food drive to benefit the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District’s Weekend on Wheels Program.  We had an amazing turnout and collected a truck full of canned goods that helped feed hungry families living right here in our community.

Business Retail Loan Program: The MCBF offers a loan of up to $25,000 to help Maplewood businesses that we believe will be assets to the Maplewood community. We’ve loaned to several businesses who would otherwise be ineligible for loans due to past mistakes but who have worked hard and proven that they can be a successful part of the Maplewood community.

Scholarships: Every year the MCBF identifies an MRH High School Senior who has demonstrated academic success, service to the community, and economic need and rewards them with a scholarship to college. Additionally, the MCBF presents awards to two high school Juniors who are outstanding leaders and citizens in their school and in the community.

We invite you to join us for the MCBF Trivia Night on February 23rd at Sunnen Products Company. It’s a great way to get out for an evening, have a good time, and support the Maplewood community. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ryan Hummert Memorial Foundation. The cost is $25/per ticket or $200 for a table of 10. Ticket price includes free soda and beer all night long.
