Frederick Fiddmont, First African American MRH Board Member, Dies

Fiddmont returned to Maplewood after serving in the Korean conflict.

Frederick C. Fiddmont, died on Sunday, May 19, from complications of Alzheimer's disease, according to an obituary in the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Fiddmont attended elementary and middle school in Maplewood. He went away for high school, and attended the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff on a football scholarship. He returned to Maplewood after serving in the Korean conflict.

Services will be held Friday, May 24, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1500 South Hanley Road. Visitation: 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral: noon.
