Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria to Donate Sales of Special Dessert to Siteman Cancer Research Center This Mother's Day

ST. LOUIS – Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria, a local Italian eatery, has special plans for this year’s Mother’s Day on Sun., May 11.

The restaurant will be honoring Mother’s Day by donating 100 percent of their proceeds from the sales of their dessert, Nadia’s Cherry Pie, to the Siteman Cancer Center.

The dessert’s name honors co-owner Ted Collier’s late mother, Nadia. A Ukraine-born model, Nadia was diagnosed with melanoma and given an estimated six months to live. She succumbed to cancer in 2004 after a year-long battle.

“We wanted to provide a delicious dessert for our patrons to enjoy with their mothers and grandmothers on Mother’s Day and make a difference in the lives of cancer patients everywhere at the same time,” said Ted Collier, co-owner of Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria. “Donating sales from this dessert is the perfect way for us to give back.”

The Siteman Cancer Center is nationally recognized as a leader in cancer treatment, research and prevention. More than 8,000 cancer patients are cared for by the center’s 350 Washington University research scientists and physicians yearly.

Owners Katie Lee and Ted Collier opened the doors to Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria in November 2013. Since then it has been serving the Great St. Louis region with exquisite Italian meals made with the finest and freshest ingredients. Each dish is created with a comprehensive understanding in how to mix the perfect flavors to give each guest the right Italian flare in each and every dish.

Nearly everything is made in-house at Katie’s Pizza & Pasta Osteria including all of the dough, sauces, and dressings. The restaurant uses artisanal cheeses, cured Italian meats, and seasonal produce, and they also offer gluten free and vegan options.

The restaurant prides itself on its artistic, Italian ambiance. Guests are treated to films that play on a projector screen and can enjoy the restaurant’s the restaurant’s newly opened patio.
