$8,000 in Jewelry Stolen from Home on Flora

Maplewood Police also made several drunk driving arrests.

Monday, Aug. 5
  • A bad check report was filed by a business in the 2200 block of S. Big Bend. The $1, 989 fraudulent check was presented to the business in July 2013. Police are investigating the matter and have identified a person of interest.
  • At approximately 10:15 p.m. an unknown male subject reportedly approached a female near the intersection of Manchester and Bellevue. The victim reported that the male subject approached her from behind and placed a hard object against her neck where he demanded property. The female told the suspect she did not have anything on her person. The suspect then fled on foot towards Southwest Avenue. The male suspect is described as being approximately 5'9"-6'0", wearing a dark hoodie and dark colored jeans. The victim could not provide a race for the male subject. The victim reported no injuries.
  • An unknown male subject allegedly stole approximately $600 in tools from a Maplewood Commons business. He then fled the business with the stolen merchandise. 

Tuesday, Aug. 6  

  • A 30-year-old female driver was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated near the intersection of Manchester and Laclede Station. 
  • A 29-year-old male driver was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the 2800 block of Laclede Station Road. The male driver was additionally charged with a drug violation and drug paraphernalia which was discovered  on his person at the time of his arrest.
  • A 25-year-old female was charged with a drug violation and drug paraphernalia resulting from a traffic stop conducted in the 7300 block of Manchester. The female subject was also wanted by another agency for an active warrant.
  • A 33 year old male was arrested for shoplifting approximately $125 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. 
  • A wallet was stolen from a customer while she was shopping at a business located in the 7700 block of Manchester. One of the victim’s credit cards was then used fraudulently at a business in south St. Louis County. On this same date another customer advised her wallet was stolen as well while shopping at the above location. Video surveillance showed an unknown female stealing the victims wallets while they were shopping. 
  •  A residential burglary occurred between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of Flora.  There was approximately $8,000 in jewelry reported stolen from within the residence.
  • A fraudulent transaction of approximately $105 was conducted at a business in the 7300 block of Manchester. The victim’s wallet containing the credit card was reportedly stolen from the 2900 block of Marshall. Police are reviewing video surveillance in an effort to identify a suspect.
