Brentwood Lawyer Overcharged, Charged With Exploiting the Elderly

He was representing a family with a family member strangled in jail.

Brentwood attorney Anthony W. Cipriano, 59, of the 5400 block of Milentz Avenue in St. Louis, was charged with financially exploiting the elderly when he took thousands of dollars more than what he had been entitled to take in fees from a client, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Cipriano’s law office is in Brentwood.

Cipriano withdrew $48,866 from an account with the family's permission but without court approval, which he needed. Court documents say he withdrew $25,000 of those funds rather than keeping them in a trust.

He was representing a family whose relative was strangled in the St. Louis City Jail.
