Child Abuse Charges Investigated in Richmond Heights

Police learned of the case after a person with the Maplewood Richmond Heights School District contacted Missouri's abuse hotline.

Four siblings are in foster care after police said they found evidence of abuse.

No arrests have been made, though the possibility of criminal charges is under investigation, Capt. Doug Schaeffler of the said Tuesday.

The children were moved to foster care April 26.

It happened after a person with the noticed bruising on one of the children and contacted the Missouri Children's Division Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline Unit. Social workers investigated the case and contacted police, who interviewed their mother and found evidence of abuse.

Schaeffler could not release the ages of the children because all of them are juveniles.

He said people who think a child has been abused should "absolutely" call the hotline.  The number is 1-800-392-3738.

Sometimes parents have to use tough love. I'm not sayin this applies here but I know for a fact that not all abuse is actually abuse. Sometimes parents reach out for help with troubled teens or children to keep them out of trouble and what might seem harsh discipline can be thought of as abuse ,I don't agree. There are some good parents that are tryin.

Lorie, I'm a parent and I know how hard it can be, but a parent bruising a child, if that's what happened here, is never excusable. When is abuse not abuse?

I didn't abuse my son..this is being thrown way out portion. You can't even discipline children without it being considered abuse. This was a valuable lesson to be learned. They put me all over internet for job security. This is truly sad
