Craigslist Murder For Hire Suspect Found Competent to Stand Trial

William Lawrence's preliminary hearing is today in the St. Louis federal courthouse.

The Maplewood man for each officer killed, has been found competent to have his case move forward, according to an article in STLtoday.com.

William Lawrence, of the 7700 block of Lindbergh Drive, in Maplewood, faces a murder for hire charge for placing the ad in Craigslist on Feb. 29.

On Tuesday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Nannette Baker ruled that after a mental exam, Lawrence, of the 7700 block of Lindbergh Drive, was competent, according to the STLtoday article.

Lawrence will appear in a preliminary hearing on May 16 at the Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse in St. Louis. (Editor's note: the St. Louis Post Dispatch article cited, states the hearing is on May 17, which is incorrect.)
