DWI Suspect Knocks Traffic Light into S. Hanley, Police Say

He also had front-end damage and two flat tires.

Thursday, October 3

  • A purse was reported stolen from the front porch of a residence in the 7200 block of Lyndover Avenue. The reporting party said she left her purse on the front porch for a brief moment.  When she returned she saw an man running from her front yard, and saw her purse was missing. The man was last seen running towards Bellevue. Police canvassed the area, however they were unable to find the suspect or the stolen purse.

  • A 26-year-old man was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. An officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling in the area of Maplewood Commons Drive and Corcoran Drive with heavy front-end damage along with two flattened tires. An investigation showed the driver hit a traffic light a block away at the intersection of S. Hanley and Bernard. The light was found lying in the traffic lanes of S. Hanley.

Sunday, October 6

  • A 32-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of stealing approximately $300 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.  Drug paraphernalia was discovered on the woman at the time of arrest.  The man was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. 
  • A 37-year-old man was arrested for damaging another vehicle in the 3200 block of Laclede Station Road. The reporting party advised while driving in the 3200 block of Laclede Station Road, another vehicle pulled in front of him.  The reporting party sounded his horn at which time the driver of the other vehicle stopped abruptly and got out of the vehicle. The male driver then approached the reporting party’s vehicle and began yelling. The reporting party began to drive away at which time the above male driver punched the trunk of the reporting party’s vehicle causing damage to the trunk.  The reporting party then drove to the Maplewood Police Department to report the above incident.  While at the police station, the other driver also arrived a few moments later at which time he was taken into custody.
