Girl Hit by Vehicle at Sutton and Manchester

A similar incident occurred 11 days ago, when a 72-year-old man was hit by a car at the same intersection on his birthday.

Jennifer Mills was driving to her home in South City at about 6:30 p.m. on Monday when a girl darted in front of her Jeep Liberty.

Mills was driving east on Manchester Road, and the girl was moving south on Sutton Boulevard, when Mills struck the girl with her Jeep Liberty. Mills had a green light and didn't see the girl until the last second, she said.

The girl, estimated to be 13 years old, was in stable condition with a broken leg, said Lt. William Appel of the . She was transferred to St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Traffic was rerouted from the intersection for roughly 20 minutes as emergency responders transported the girl in an ambulance and talked to witnesses on the scene.
