Man Attempts to Use Fake Money at Maplewood Walmart

The man had $1,100 in fake bills all in $50 and $100 denominations in his pockets, according to police.

A 24-year-old St. Louis man is accused of trying to use counterfeit money at the Maplewood Walmart.

The man attempted to use the money at the register and ran when the money was refused, according to police. 

Maplewood police officers caught and arrested the man on N. Hanley Road at the Interstate 64 ramp. He had $1,100 in fake money, according to police.

The police department has contacted the United States Secret Service and charges against the man are pending.
