Man Put Phone and Headset Down His Pants at Walmart, Police Say

Ammizabad Johnson is charged with his fourth stealing offense since 2008.

A 22-year-old Richmond Heights man was charged with his third stealing offense since 2008.

Ammizabad J. Johnson, 22, of the 7700 block of West Bruno Avenue in Richmond Heights, was charged Monday with stealing as a third offense. Johnson pleaded guilty to three previous stealing charges, one in 2008 and another in 2009.

Maplewood Police said Walmart security personnel saw Johnson take a mobile phone and wireless headset from displays and conceal them in his pants and left the store.

Johnson fled on foot and was able to elude Maplewood Police. He was arrested six weeks later.

He was on probation after pleading guilty in 2010 to burglary, theft and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Johnson is being held in St. Louis County jail. Bail was set at $30,000.
