Man Shatters Car Window After Victim U-Turned in Front of Him

The Maplewood Police also investigated a report of shots fired.

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Wednesday, Aug. 7

  • An employee of a Maplewood Commons business was arrested for allegedly stealing money from the business.
  • An unknown male subject stole merchandise from a business located in the 7400 block of Manchester. The suspect then fled the business with the stolen merchandise. Police have several leads regarding the suspect.
  • An 18 year old male and a 18 year old female were arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. The female suspect was additionally charged with a drug violation and drug paraphernalia which was discovered on her person at the time of the arrest.

  • A 1988 Buick Le Sabre was stolen from the parking lot of a Maplewood Commons business at approximately 6:15 p.m. The suspect arrived at the above location in another vehicle which was later discovered stolen from another jurisdiction. The 1988 Buick has not been recovered as of this time.
  • A juvenile was taken into custody for allegedly stealing merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. 
  • A 58-year-old male was arrested after allegedly shattering the window of a vehicle in the 3400 block of Canterbury. The suspect was apparently upset that the victim made a U-turn in front of his vehicle. When the victim pulled over at the above location, the male suspect exited his vehicle and confronted the victim at which time he shattered the victim’s vehicle window.

 Friday, Aug. 9

  • A 39-year-old female was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police responded to the area of Burgess and Comfort for a report of “shots fired.” An officer canvassing the area observed a suspicious vehicle occupied by two male subjects in the area of 7700 block of Comfort. Upon the officer making contact with the two male subjects, the officer discovered the male subjects to be in possession of drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were charged with the possession of drug paraphernalia. In regards to the “shots fired” call, officers could not locate the source of the complaint.
  • A 29-year-old male was arrested in the 7200 block of Lyndover for stealing over $500. The male suspect was identified in a theft committed in July wherein approximately $1,400 in property was stolen from a residence the 2600 block of Oakview Terrace.

Saturday, Aug. 10

  • A 24-year-old male was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • A 37-year-old male driver was arrested for a drug violation resulting from a traffic stop conducted in the 2500 block of Bredell.
  • Officers responded to the 3600 block of Big Bend for a report of several intoxicated subjects loitering inside a business. Upon making contact with one of the subjects, a records check revealed he was wanted for a felony probation violation. The male subject was subsequently arrested on the probation violation. The male suspect was additionally charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer for spitting in one of the officer’s face and kicking at another officer. 
  • A 17-year-old female and a 18-year-old female were arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • A 26 year old male was arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. The male suspect was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest.
  • A 25-year-old male was charged with a drug violation after officers investigated an intoxicated subject call at a business in the Sunnen Business park. 

Sunday, Aug. 11

  • A 24-year-old female driver was arrested for suspicion of driving while intoxicated resulting from a traffic stop conducted near the intersection of James and Sutton.
  • A 24-year-old male and a 22-year-old male were arrested for shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
