Maplewood Apartment Fire Called Arson

The fire started in a third-floor apartment around 6:30 yesterday morning. The Maplewood Fire Department responded, then Chief Terry Merrell called a second alarm.

The fire was put down within 20 minutes, and no one was injured.

Maplewood Detectives have identified an 18-year-old male suspect from North St. Louis County who they are searching for, and have issued an order for his arrest.

St. Louis County Arson and Explosives Unit detectives assisted in the initial investigation of the fire, which was classified as an arson. The arson investigation was turned over to the Maplewood police.
