7 Assaults, 6 Thefts in Maplewood Crime Blotter

The Maplewood Police Department reported these suspected crimes and others in its weekly report.

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, April 15

  • A purse was stolen from a vehicle in the parking lot of a Maplewood Commons business. Police are reviewing video surveillance in an attempt to locate a suspect(s). 
  • A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • A delayed larceny was reported wherein power tools valued at approximately $550 were reported stolen from a Maplewood Commons business. The theft occurred on April 13. 

Tuesday, April 16

  • A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stealing a television from a Maplewood Commons business. 
  • A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $300.00 in video game equipment from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. He was also found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest and charged accordingly.
  • Officers responded to the 3700 block of Cambridge for a reported domestic disturbance. A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene for domestic assault. He was also wanted by this agency on a failure to appear warrant.

Wednesday, April 17

  • Police are investigating an order of protection violation which occurred in the 2400 block of Sutton Boulevard.
  • A 2000 Dodge van was stolen from the 7600 block of Comfort between 9 p.m. on April 17 and 5:45 a.m on April 18. The same unknown suspect(s) responsible for stealing the above vehicle also broke into a vehicle in the 7300 block of Vine and stole miscellaneous property. An ATV was also stolen from the 7300 block of Vine. The 2000 Dodge Van was recovered the following day in East St. Louis. The ATV has not been recovered.

Thursday, April 18

  • A window of a vehicle was broken out in the 7500 block of Sussex Avenue between 10 p.m. on April 17 and 8 a.m. on April 18. No items inside the vehicle were reported stolen.
  • A 39-year-old woman was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance stemming from a suspicious vehicle check an officer conducted near Circle Drive and Rannells Avenue.

Friday, April 19

  • A windshield of a vehicle was reported shattered in the 7500 block of Picadilly between 10 p.m. on April 19 and 1 p.m. on April 20. The damage was possibly caused by a BB/pellet gun.
  • A 25-year-old woman was arrested on a drug violation in the 2200 block of Yale Avenue.

Saturday, April 20

  • A 28-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the 7200 block of Lyndover Place.
  • A leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident was reported in the parking lot of a Maplewood Commons business. A parked vehicle was struck by another unknown vehicle between 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.
  • A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a drug violation in the 2500 block of Circle Drive.
  • A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia resulting from a traffic accident investigation at the intersection of S. Big Bend Boulevard and Manchester Road.
  • A property damage to a vehicle was reported in the 3200 block of Edgar Avenue.  The unknown suspect(s) attempted to break into the vehicle which caused damage to the vehicle.
  • A 49-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assaulting one another at a residence in the 2500 block of Sutton Boulevard.
  • A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on in the 2500 block of Bredell Avenue.
  • A 18-year-old woman was arrested on domestic assault charges on in the 2100 block of Bellevue Avenue on suspicion of assaulting her boyfriend.  

Sunday, April 21

  • Two family members, a 44-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting one another in the 7400 block of Lohmeyer Avenue.
