Maplewood Police: Couples Argue Over Money and Candy

The incidents are in the Maplewood Police weekly report.

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Monday, July 15

  • A leaving the scene of an accident was reported. A car parked in the 7200 block of Lyndover Avenue was hit. 
  • A 28-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman were arrested for shoplifting approximately $120 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. The woman was additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

 Tuesday, July 16

  • A computer tablet was reported stolen from a residence in the 7200 block of Lyndover Avenue. Police have several leads regarding the suspect responsible.
  • A 55-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police responded to the 7200 block of Anna Avenue for a reported disturbance. An investigation revealed a man and woman were arguing over candy. No arrests were made and one of the parties agreed to leave the residence. 

 Wednesday, July 17

  • Police responded to the intersection of Laclede Station and Rannells for a reported accident involving a parked vehicle. A-23-year old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
  •  A 39-year-old man was arrested for a felony drug violation resulting from a traffic stop conducted by an officer in the area of South Hanley and Corcoran. 
  •  A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  •  A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. She was also in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of the arrest and she was charged accordingly. 

Thursday, July 18

  • Police responded to the 7200 block of Lyndover Avenue for a reported disturbance. An investigation revealed a male and female had been involved in an argument over finances.  One of the parties agreed to leave the residence to stay with relatives.
  • A 29-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were issued summons for trespassing at a residence in the 7600 block of Flora Avenue.

Friday, July 19

  • Approximately $1000 in bicycles and lawn equipment were stolen from a shed in the 2600 block of Oakview Terrace. 
  •  A 19 year-old-man was arrested for damaging a tenant’s door in an apartment building in the 7300 block of Maple Avenue. The man was an ex-boyfriend of the tenant. 
  •  A vehicle was damaged in the 7200 block of Anna Avenue in an attempt to steal the car.

 Saturday, July 20

  • A 25-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. 
  • A 44-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a business located in the 7300 block of Manchester.     
  • A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stealing a lawnmower from the 7400 block of Hazel. Police received a call about the suspicious man looking into back yards and knocking on resident doors in the area.  An officer on patrol saw him pushing a lawnmower. Upon seeing the officer, the man left the lawnmower and ran. Officers canvassed the area and located the above subject hiding on the side of a residence in the area. The man admitted he stole the lawnmower from a residence located in the 7400 block of Hazel.

Sunday, July 20

  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the porch of a residence in the 2600 block of Margarette Avenue.

Monday, July 21 

  • A 19-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from the 7300 block of Manchester Road.
  • A 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
