Maplewood Police Investigate $950 Fraud, More in Weekly Report

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department .   Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction. 

Tuesday, May 28

  • A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police are investigating a fraud of approximately $950. The fraud occurred at a Maplewood Commons business several weeks ago. 
  • A 55-year-old-man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an acquaintance on 5-28-13 in the 7200 block of Manchester.  
Wednesday, May 29
  • A 46-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $240 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
Thursday, May 30
  • Two siblings had apparently been involved in an altercation in the 7300 block of Maple Avenue. There were no reported injuries, nor arrests made. One of the siblings voluntarily left the building.
Friday, May 31
  • A 25-year-old man was arrested in the 7300 block of Manchester Road on a felony failure to appear warrant. Police also found marijuana and drug paraphernalia on the man.
  • A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $100 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • In the 2100 block of Yale Avenue, police found a 33-year-old woman and her boyfriend yelling at each other. The woman was additionally charged with property damage and an occupancy violation.
Saturday, June 1
  • A 41-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
  • Police went to a Maplewood Commons business for a larceny just occurred. The man left the business with stolen merchandise before police arrived.  An officer saw the man in the area, but lost sight of him in the 7700 block of W. Bruno Avenue. The suspect has since been identified and police are looking for him.
  • A 45-year-old man was arrested on several drug violations in the area of Lyndover and Bellevue avenues.
  • Police responded to a disturbance call on the parking lot of a Maplewood Commons business. An investigation revealed that a man and a woman had been fighting. Both parties were charged with affray. 
  • A 17-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $125 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.
Sunday, May 2
  • A 35-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. The man was additionally charged with a drug violation after police discovered suspected heroin on him. 
Monday, May 3
  •  A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of felony stealing. He is suspected of stealing a purse containing credit cards, money, and other property from a shopping cart on May 1 which was inadvertently left behind at a Maplewood Commons business.
