Maplewood Teen Charged With Kidnapping, Rape

The teenager was charged Sunday with raping and kidnapping a girl under the age of 16.

A Maplewood teenager was charged Sunday with kidnapping and raping a girl under the age of 16.

Timothy Gilbert, 18, of the 7300 block of Kensington Avenue, is charged with kidnapping, forcible rape, attempted forcible sodomy, sex abuse, burglary, theft and armed criminal action, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The victim a girl under age 16. Police officials are not releasing more information.

Quoting from the Post story:

Police said in court documents that Gilbert entered a home on Delor Street near Gustine Avenue late Dec. 14 or early Dec. 15 while the girl was sleeping and pointed a knife at her. Police said he forced her to leave the home through a rear door, pulled off her clothes, spit on her and raped her at knifepoint.

Then, Gilbert took the girl's clothing, purse and cellphone and left, police said.

Police said they found Gilbert's DNA on the girl's bra strap.

Gilbert's bail is set at $75,000, cash only. He also has a pending burglary charge in St. Louis from January.
