MRH Student Stole Laptop While Fellow Student Worked in Weight Room, Police Say

Maplewood Police said Ronnie Moore said he sold the computer to another student; the MacBook was recovered from that student, who also was arrested.

A Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School student is accused of stealing a laptop computer from another student.

Ronnie Moore, 17, of the 1000 Moorlands Drive in Richmond Heights, was charged Wednesday with felony theft.

Maplewood Police said a student reported his school-issued Apple MacBook was stolen from his backpack as he worked out in the Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School weight room between 3:30 and 5 p.m. Jan. 14.

Police said video evidence showed Moore near the weight room about the time the theft took place. Moore’s backpack was noticeably bigger leaving the weight room than when he arrived, police said.

According to a court document, Moore confessed and said he sold the computer to another Maplewood-Richmond Heights High School student. That student also was arrested, and the stolen laptop was recovered, police said.

Bail for Moore was set at $5,000.
