Police: Cars Broken Into on Elm, Flora and Maple

The Maplewood Police Department reported this suspected crimes and others in its weekly report.

The following information was supplied by the Maplewood Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, May 6

  • Two vehicles were broken into in the overnight hours. One incident occurred in the 7300 block of Elm Avenue where the suspect(s) broke a vehicle's window and stole a purse. In the second incident a GPS was stolen from a vehicle in the 7300 block of Flora Avenue.

  • A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated in the area of S. Big Bend and Rannells Avenue resulting from a traffic accident investigation.

Wednesday, May 8

  • A 18-year-old man was arrested in the area of Lyndover and Yale avenues on suspicion of multiple active warrants through this agency. He was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. 
  • A 49-year-old man was arrested in the 2600 block of Roseland Terrace on suspicion of assaulting his wife.

Thursday, May 9

  • A 64-year-old man was arrested in the 7200 block of Moller Avenue on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend.
  • A vehicle was struck from behind while stopped at the intersection of Manchester and Laclede Station. When the struck vehicle pulled to the side of the road, the striking vehicle left the scene of the accident. 

Friday, May 10

  • A 22-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $215 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business.  She was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant for stealing.
  • An officer conducted a traffic stop near Maplewood Commons Drive and W. Bruno Avenue. The 47-year-old man was discovered to be driving on a suspended license and he had multiple active warrants through other jurisdictions. A-22-year old woman inside the vehicle was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant through another agency. She was also found to be in possession of a controlled substance and charged accordingly.
  • A 32-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting approximately $75 in merchandise from a Maplewood Commons business. 

Saturday, May 11

  • A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of threatening his ex-girlfriend. The incident occurred in the 2800 block of Marshall. 
  • A moped was reported stolen from the 2800 block of Laclede Station Road between 8 p.m. on May 10 and 7 a.m. on May 11.
  • A burglary at a business occurred in the early morning hours in the 3600 block of S. Big Bend. Maplewood Police received an alarm and discovered the front door of the business shattered. Cartons of  cigarettes were reported stolen. Anyone with information is asked to call the Maplewood Detective Bureau at 314-646-3621 or the anonymous tip line at 314-781-3733.    
  • A window of a vehicle was shattered between 10:30 p.m. on May 10 and 2 p.m. on May 12 in the 7400 block of Maple Avenue.
