Police: Maplewood Woman Charged in Motel Room Break-in Robbery

Police say Janet Miraglia and another suspect kicked in a motel room door and robbed a couple at gunpoint, taking their car and $10,000.

A Maplewood woman was charged with breaking into a motel room in Bel-Ridge and helping rob a couple staying in the room.

Janet Miraglia, 28, of the 3600 block of Manhattan in Maplewood, was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of armed criminal action and first-degree burglary.

Bel-Ridge police said a man Miraglia was with kicked open a door at the Springdale Motel just off Natural Bridge Road near Interstate 170. As Miraglia took the woman’s purse and cell phone, the man threatened to shoot one of the victims if they did not turn over the keys to their 2004 Ford Mustang, police said.

Miraglia and the man also took $10,000 in cash, according to charges filed by the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
