Slow Down: Local Legend Ron Zeigler Returns to Rock Hill Police

The Rock Hill Police Department has brought back famed traffic cop Ron Zeigler for a six month contract.

The average Rock Hill officer wrote five tickets per day while Ron Zeigler averaged 20 to 60 tickets per day during his initial 26-year career with the department.

Zeigler estimates he wrote 150,000 tickets as a Rock Hill officer from 1983 until his retirement in 2009 - an average of 420 per month.

Zeigler began his law enforcement career in 1971 working for the until he made the move to Rock Hill in 1983.

In 1985, St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Famer and Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Stan Musial presented Zeigler with the State of Missouri Traffic Officer of the Year Award.
