Updated: Maplewood Man Charged With Murder After Shooting Victim Dies

Police said Tyaaron Harris, of Maplewood, shot Laron L. Taylor Monday, and Harris died later the same evening.

A man shot Monday afternoon in Webster Groves died the same evening, and St. Louis County prosecutors filed murder charges against a Maplewood man.

Laron L. Taylor, 37, of the 1000 block of Wall Street in St. Louis, died during surgery from a single gunshot wound in his chest.

On Tuesday, St. Louis County prosecutors charged Tyaaron D. Harris, 27, of the 7200 block of Anna in Maplewood, with second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Webster Groves Police said Harris and Taylor were fighting when Harris pulled out a handgun and shot Taylor in the chest. Harris admitted shooting Taylor, according to court documents.

Harris remains in custody at the St. Louis County Jail. Bond was set at $100,000.

Webster Groves police are investigating the shooting, which occurred at about 2 p.m. Monday near the intersection of N. Elm Avenue and Waymire Avenue on an apartment parking lot.
