90-Day Deadline Passed Since Brentwood Audit: City, Auditor to Meet

Brentwood received a "poor" rating from the state auditor.

Missouri State Auditor Tom Schweich will soon meet with the Brentwood Board of Aldermen.

This is following the presentation Schweich gave to the Brentwood Board of Aldermen in May on the results of his audit of the city. More than a thousand Brentwood citizens signed a petition requesting the audit. Schweich gave Brentwood a “poor” rating in his audit, and outlined 12 general areas where improvements are needed.

Brentwood staff had 90 days to make the improvements, which has passed.

Now, State Auditor media representative Spence Jackson said Schweich’s team will meet with the city staff and officials.

“We'll meet with them, discuss our recommendations and ask them about the status of each one,” Jackson said. “We will listen to what they say and then note each one as either implemented, partially implemented, in progress or not implemented.”

The results of the follow-up will be released in October, Jackson said.
