Aldermen Consider Allowing Alcohol in Brentwood Park

But any voting is expected to wait until the city hires a new parks director.

Any discussion about potentially allowing alcohol in during adult softball leagues will wait until the city hires a new parks director.

Ward 3 Alderman Keith Robertson, who chairs the Brentwood Public Works Committee, said the city should ask for input from whoever takes the job left vacant with the ousting of . Robertson made the comments during a committee meeting on Wednesday afternoon.

The hiring process could take a couple months, City Administrator Bola Akande said.

In the meantime, Robertson said the committee should solicit feedback from the community.

Jim Patterson, who lives on Hilldale Avenue, said the leagues function as more of a social gathering than a sports competition. He referred to leagues in nearby cities that allow alcohol, and asked that Brentwood consider doing the same.
