Brentwood Boulevard Scheduled for 2015 Maintenace

A St. Louis County traffic and public works departments official responds to a Patch article that quotes Mayor Pat Kelly's concerns about the state of Brentwood Boulevard.

The following was submitted by David Wrone, public information manager for St. Louis County Departments of Highways and Traffic and Public Works, following Patch's publication of on Thursday morning.

recently regarding the City of Brentwood's desire that St. Louis County repave Brentwood Boulevard from Manchester Road north to roughly I-64/40. In the article, Jason quotes a resolution recently approved by the City of Brentwood in which it is alleged that St. Louis County had previously "promised" to repave the road - the inference being that we're reneging on that promise.

However, the reality is that St. Louis County has NEVER made such a promise, either orally or in writing. I would be very interested in seeing documentation from the City of Brentwood to verify its insistence that such a pledge was made. I strongly encourage Jason to ask the city for it, as well.

Brentwood Boulevard is scheduled for a new driving surface in 2015. The road is "average" or slightly above average, per our rating system. There are literally dozens of other roads in our system with lower pavement ratings that must be resurfaced before we address Brentwood. However, we'll continue to seek additional funding that would enable us to move Brentwood's repaving schedule up. For the time being, though, that money simply doesn't exist.

St. Louis County Highways and Traffic crews will of course continue to maintain Brentwood Boulevard whenever and wherever that maintenance is needed.
