Brentwood Hires Deputy City Clerk

On April 2, the city of Brentwood hired Octavia L. Pittman to serve as deputy city clerk and executive secretary.

Pittman is a certified municipal clerk and has more than 10 years of city clerk experience. She served in this capacity the past six years for Berkeley, MO, and for Vinita Park, MO, prior to that.

“We are excited to have someone of Octavia’s caliber filling this position for the City of Brentwood,” said Bola Akande, city administrator. “Her years of experience and
professionalism will serve our community well as we continue our efforts to incorporate best management practices into all of our government activities.”

As deputy city clerk, Pittman will assist the city administrator and the Board of Aldermen with a variety of responsibilities, including the maintenance of city records, along with the preparation of minutes, agendas, ordinances, resolutions, and proclamations. She will also help with administrative requests from city and elected officials, as well as residents.

Outside of work, Pittman is active in the Missouri City Clerk and Finance Officers Association and is currently serving as the organization’s president. She is also a notary public and has been praised for her skills as a parliamentarian. Last year, she was named one of North County Incorporated’s “30 Leaders in Their Thirties.”

“I believe Octavia’s ability to work well with all constituencies and her track record of achievement will serve us well in Brentwood,” Akande said. “Her many fine qualities will be an asset to our entire community, and we’re excited to have her on board.”
