Brentwood Makes Offer to City Administrator Candidate

City administrator candidate met with city council in a closed session last night.

According to Brentwood Mayor Pat Kelly, an offer was made last night to a candidate for Brentwood city administrator. He met with the mayor and the city council  in a closed session Thursday night for about 20 minutes. Kelly said when he left the meeting, Brentwood's labor attorney was with the candidate.

Kelly did not want to identify the candidate, but said he could accept the offer as soon as today (Friday).

"We are very close. We have made an offer," Kelly said.

About 40 applications were accepted for the position, and Kelly said about 10 to 12 of them were qualified. They did a round of interviews and identified a strong candidate several weeks ago. They started negotiations with him about three to four weeks ago.

According to the mayor, the candidate holds another position in a city in St. Louis County. "He is strong in budgeting and will be a person who can hit the ground running." Kelly said.  "He is also someone our existing staff can work with."
