Following Seemayer's Sentencing, More Mismanagement Revealed by Mayor

Mayor Pat Kelly shared three more allegations during a Brentwood Board of Aldermen meeting on Monday night.

The level of financial mismanagement under former Brentwood city administrator Chris Seemayer was larger than originally expected.

During Monday night's Brentwood Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Pat Kelly revealed three more problems that occured on Seemayer's watch:

  • City employees have historically used a Sam's Club credit card for personal expenses, then later reimbursed the city on those expenses, Kelly said. The practice was recently stopped. When pressed by residents on whether any city employees have been terminated over the practice, the mayor responded by saying that each individual expense has been reimbursed.
  • Seemayer forged an unathorized $16,000 contract with T-Mobile. The phones were never activated, and Kelly said the city is trying to recover the spent funds.
  • The city's annual golf tournament has been operating at a deficit for a "number of years," Kelly said. After the annual tournaments, the city has traditionally cut checks to local nonprofits (like the ). This year, the tournament was run by other city employees and made $10,000.

The news follows the , who to stealing nearly $30,000 from the city's coffers.

Kelly said the city couldn't reveal details from Seemayer's police report until after he was sentenced.

A grumbling, and sometimes laughing, crowd of residents responded to several points made by the mayor during the statements.

Seemayer, who was sentenced to five years probation and , ran the city for more than two decades.
