Former Brentwood Alderwoman Lorraine Krewson Has Died

Lorraine Krewson worked as a Brentwood city official for 30 years before becoming an alderwoman in 2004. She died on Thursday at the age of 81.

Lorraine Krewson, a longtime public servant for the city of Brentwood, died on Thursday. She was 81.

She is survived by children Steven Krewson, Susan Krewson, Kathleen Hedley-Rogers; grandchildren Steven Jr., Jason, Scott, Taylor, Christopher, Michael, Jack, Jonathan and Austin; and sister Shirley Schnoring, notes an obituary on 's website.

She was preceded in death by parents Ernest and Wilma Obernay; brother Ernest Obernay; and son Jeffrey Krewson.

Krewson worked as a city official for 30 years and, more recently, represented the fourth ward as an alderwoman for eight years.

She started working for Brentwood in 1967 as the police department’s deputy court clerk and as secretary to the chief of police. She worked 30 years for the city and retired 10 years ago as the deputy city clerk.

After her retirement, Krewson was appointed to the city Planning and Zoning Commission, which she left when she became an alderwoman. She lost in her most recent re-election bid to in a contested race.

As an alderwoman, Krewson served on the public safety and ways and means committees, as well as the human relations commission. She also worked as the liaison between the city and the , where she formerly sat on its board of directors, and previously served two terms as president.

These are only a few examples of Krewson's lifelong dedication to the community, said Mayor Pat Kelly, who served as an alderman while Krewson still worked as deputy city clerk.

"She was always someone who cared about the community," Kelly said. "She always wanted to be in a position to help."

Her visitation is scheduled between 4-8 p.m. on Sunday at . The funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
