Forum Planned Monday to Discuss Drug Use, Prevention in Brentwood Schools

Community members are invited to share their thoughts.

A panel discussion about drugs, and identifying ways to address any potential use in the hallways of Brentwood schools, is planned for Monday night.

The discussion is planned for 6:30 p.m. in the .

The panel will consist of Brentwood Board of Education members, public safety officers, parents, former students and a representative from the .

In September, school board members began debating possibly adding a drug testing program for students participating in extracurricular activities.

Since then, the discussion has broadened. Is drug testing the most cost-effective way to address the issue? Does the district even have a drug problem right now?

The night will function as an information-gathering forum for the school board and community, said David Faulkner, assistant to the superintendent.
