Four Maplewood Streets Scheduled for Improvement This Year

Maplewood Public Works Director Anthony Traxler said the city council has made repairing streets a priority, so he's trying to make the city's money go as far as possible.

"We’re doing more streets now in the last year than we’ve done in the last five or six," he said.

Traxler listed some of the upcoming streets that will be improved this summer:

Walter Avenue

• Work will begin the week of July 11.

Yale Avenue

• Work will begin around the time Walter is begun.

Marietta Avenue

• Work will begin after Let them Eat Art – July 13. Marietta will be done in stages, using 8-inch concrete, instead of the usual 7, to accomodate truck traffic. It should be done before the end of August. The retaining wall and stairwell in the center of the block will be done at that time, and landscaping will wait until the fall.

Marshall Avenue

• Work is scheduled for this year.
