I-64 Fully Closed Downtown this Weekend for Jefferson Bridge Removal

The Missouri Department of Transportation reports on the St. Louis work zones for April 18-24.

The Missouri Department of Transportation will close the ramp from Pine Street to westbound Interstate 64 at 9 a.m., Thursday as part of the Jefferson Avenue bridge closure. The Jefferson Avenue bridge over I-64 will close on Friday morning at 1 a.m., for approximately three months. Motorists can use Compton Avenue, 18th Street and 14th Street to detour around the closure.

MoDOT will close all lanes on I-64 in both directions between Hampton and Jefferson this weekend starting at 8 p.m., Friday. Entrance ramps to eastbound I-64 will be closed from McCausland to Ewing avenues. In addition, entrance ramps to westbound I-64 will be closed from Broadway to Grand avenues. All lanes and ramps on I-64 will reopen by 5 a.m., Monday, except for the ramp from Pine to westbound I-64, and Ewing to eastbound I-64. These two ramps will remain closed until Jefferson reopens in August 2013.  

In St. Louis County, blasting operations on southbound I-270 near Big Bend Boulevard is cancelled Thursday due to rain in the forecast. Blasting is scheduled to resume Friday at 1 p.m., and will continue weekly, weather permitting.

Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:

  • I-64, St. Louis City, ramp from Pine Street to westbound I-64 closes until August 2013.
  • I-64, St. Louis City, ramp from Ewing to eastbound I-64 closes until August 2013.
  • Jefferson Avenue Bridge, St. Louis City, eastbound and westbound directions on bridge closes Friday until August 2013.
  • I-64, St. Louis City, the Vandeventer ramp to westbound I-64 is closed until late 2013.
  • I-64, St. Louis City, drivers in both directions will have three shifted, 10-foot lanes between Kingshighway and Vandeventer until November 2013. The rightmost lane of eastbound I-64 will exit at Hampton.
  • Wellington, St. Louis City, the Wellington bridge closed over the River Des Peres until May 2013. Detour to Jamieson Avenue bridge.
  • I-70, (westbound section of the Interstate 70 Blanchette bridge over the Missouri River) will remain closed until fall 2013. The eastbound I-70 bridge has three lanes of traffic in each direction. The ramp from northbound 5th Street to eastbound I-70 is closed until fall 2013.
  • I-270, St. Louis County, all northbound and southbound lanes closed from I-44 to Manchester Road for up to 15 minutes at 1 p.m. on weekdays until May 2013.
  • I-70, St. Charles County, starting at 3 a.m., westbound lane closed at Route 79 until August 2013.
  • I-70, St. Charles County, loop ramps from Mid Rivers Mall Drive to eastbound and westbound I-70 remain closed until fall 2013.
  • I-70, St. Charles County, far right lane westbound remains closed from Route 370 to the Mid Rivers Mall Drive exit until fall 2013.
