Jumpin' Jupiter Accused of Sales Tax Non-Payment

It's not the first time the Maplewood club has been in financial trouble.

The Jumpin’ Jupiter, the night club in Maplewood that made news in June with scantily clad employees on the sidewalk, could be in financial trouble.

A representative of the club will be before the Maplewood City Council in a business license revocation hearing for nonpayment of sales tax prior to the council meeting on Tuesday.

It's not the first time the club has had financial troubles.

In May, a circuit judge ruled that the club must vacate the space and repay its landlord $40,506, but an agreement was reached that allowed the club to stay.

In June, owner Jim Callahan was accused of not paying performers contracted through Van Ella Productions. Callahan reorganized his show after they left.

Days after that, Callahan was in city hall for a business license revocation hearing for owing $28,000 in state taxes, which he took care of.

Jumpin' Jupiter opened its doors in April 2011, after Jive and Wail left the spot.
