Mayor Proclaims March 2, 2011 as "Women Making History Day"

Mayor Jim White read a proclamation declaring March 2, 2011 as Women Making History Day in Maplewood during a Maplewood City Council meeting on Tuesday night.

The proclamation is connected to March's designation as Women's History Month. The city will also host its fifth on March 2.

Whereas, the Congress of the United States in 1987 declared the month of March be designated as Women's History Month in perpetuity to honor the extraordinary achievements of American women; and

Whereas, the city of Maplewood's business community is comprised of over 180 women-owned and managed businesses representing a diverse group of businesses from architects to veterinarians; and

Whereas, the achievement of Maplewood's women-owned businesses have created a strong and vibrant business community; and

Whereas, this year is the City of Maplewood's 5th Annual Women Making History event on Wednesday, March 2, at the .

Now, therefore, I, James White, Mayor of the City of Maplewood, Missouri do hereby proclaim March 2, 2011 as Women Making History Day in the City of Maplewood, Missouri.
