The Missouri Department of Transportation has started the final week of work on the Interstate 64 double deck project downtown.
Weather permitting, significant lane closures on the eastbound I-64 double deck structure between Pine Street and the Poplar Street Bridge should end by Friday, Jan. 18.
Work has begun on a new construction project slightly west of there. Currently, crews are completing utility relocation work for an updated interchange between I-64 and Tower Grove, in partnership with BJC Healthcare and Washington University Medical Center. Crews will be preparing to close the Taylor and Newstead bridges over the interstate on Jan. 21. MoDOT has a full closure of both eastbound and westbound I-64 from Kingshighway to Forest Park Parkway scheduled for the weekend of January 25.
This weekend, crews will have the ramp from southbound I-170 to eastbound I-64 closed from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12 for bridge preventative maintenance. Traffic will be detoured to Eager Road during the closure.
Motorists should be aware of the following on-going closures:
- I-70, (westbound section of the Interstate 70 Blanchette bridge over the Missouri River) will remain closed until fall 2013. The eastbound I-70 bridge has three lanes of traffic in each direction. The ramp from northbound 5th Street to eastbound I-70 is closed until fall 2013.
- I-70, St. Louis City, the exit ramp from westbound I-70 to Madison will remain closed until late January, due to needed utility work.
- Wellington, St. Louis City, the Wellington bridge closed over the River Des Peres until April 2013. Detour to Jamieson Avenue bridge.
