Police: Monarch Restaurant Hit and Run Suspect Caught

A co-owner of the business said the damage is only cosmetic.

The hit and run suspect who put a dent in the Monarch event space Friday night is in custody, according to Maplewood Det. Kerry Daniels.

A co-owner of the business, Jeff Orbin, said the “gentleman” who hit the building was arrested Monday or Tuesday, and that Maplewood Police found his truck the night of the accident.

“It’s quite the nightmare, especially since those windows are accordion style windows, that are really hard to get,” Orbin said. He said the accident will hold them up a couple weeks.

He said the Maplewood building inspector, and an engineer have said the damage is only cosmetic.

"We have a big St. Louis Magazine event coming up on Nov. 3," he said. "Hopefully we’ll be in cosmetic shape for that event."
