QuikTrip to Request Zoning Change

Maplewood Planning and Zoning will discuss a zoning change with QuikTrip at next week's meeting.

representatives will be at the Maplewood Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on July 2 at 7 p.m. to discuss a request to rezone 3010 Big Bend/7509 Manchester as Planned Unit Development so a QuikTrip "Gen3" station may be constructed there.

The gas station is currently at 3010 S Big Bend Boulevard, in Maplewood.

The proposed new location is the northwest corner of Manchester Road and Big Bend Boulevard. The Scooter Store and Service Center are the current leasors. That lease would end and QuikTrip's would begin if the move went through.

The Maplewood City Council will hold a public hearing on this matter at their August 14 City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Because QT doesn't care about our school or our neighborhoods. Take a drive up to the Rock Road exit on 170 (the site of a new QT), and you'll see how QT operates. Now is the time for citizens of Maplewood to boycott QT.

This is so sad... that is the last thing that corner needs. The scooter store was a unique addition to the city. QTs are everywhere, and they don't need to be right next to the high school selling booze & cigarettes and making an already dangerous intersection even worse. I hope the "powers that be" come to their senses before it's too late. Most Maplewood citizens I've met live here because they realize life isn't all about the all-mighty dollar. We have to make sure our elected officials share these values! (Emails have been written and the responses were truly PATHETIC)

rather than boycott, how about patronizing the existing Maplewood QT and let them know we'd like to stay where they are. I don't want to see them leave Maplewood - it's always busy.

Agree with comments above. Especially in light of the article "5 most dangerous intersections in Maplewood" with that intersection being one of them. Do we really need to encourage more drive-thru like businesses? Big Bend will stop being unique and look more like St. Charles Rock Road.

I was unaware that intersection was considered "unique." A White Castle, Shell, and two Ford eastablishments. Unique?? Sounds more like a whore to big business. Now we'll have a CVS, nothing says unique like CVS. QT treats their employess well, and they maintain a clean, well lit environment. And to lotus above, I don't know if you know this, but there is a DMart and a wine store very close to that same intersection, so I love the assumption that QT will be bringing this newfound supply of booze and smokes to our children, because QT is so shady. I also love the assumption that students are too stupid to cross the street, and that students would be too lazy to walk to the current QT. If students want to go get the alleged supply of booze, they currently have to travel to Dmart, and if they want a soda they still have to go to Shell; therefore, crossing a busy street. Maplewood keeps pushing for a walkable neighborhood. I'd much rather have a QT than a CVS, but I guess QT isn't as unique.
