South County Connector: 5 Ways to Share Your Concerns or Support

The deadline to have your say in the Environmental Impact Study for the connector is Friday, July 19.

This article was written by Patch editor Lindsay Toler.

Have concerns about the South County Connector, a proposed 4-lane road through Maplewood, Shrewsbury and Webster Groves connecting Hanley Road in Maplewood and the River Des Peres Parkway in Shrewsbury? Or maybe you want to show your support.

Either way, the deadline to have your say in the Environmental Impact Study for the connector is Friday, July 19.

Barbara Garcia-Schubert shared this thought about the connector on Facebook: "I was talking to a fellow Maplewood resident that said she was not going to write a letter or file complaints about the connector because she felt 'it's so stupid there is no way they will go through with it...' Please folks, I beleive this project is further along than we realize. Write a letter or send the email before Friday or we will be paying for it with increased traffic & short cutters and the loss of our lovely new Deer Creek..."

Want to have your voice heard? Here are five ways to do it:

1. Write up your concerns or reasons for support and mail them postmarked by July 19 to this address: St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic, Attention: South County Connector, 121 S. Meramec Avenue, Clayton, Missouri 63105.
2. Have a fax machine? You can also fax your thoughts in at this number: 314-615-8156.
3. If email is the best way for you, send your thoughts to JHicks@stlouisco.com by Friday.
4. Rep. Gina Mitten (D-Richmond Heights) suggests copying your Missouri state representative on the letter or emails you send.Find your representative and his or her contact information by logging on to the Missouri House homepage, scrolling to the bottom left corner and entering your zip code where it says "Who is your representative?"
5. Post to the boards on Patch.com! Look to the right of this window, in the middle of your screen. See the line of boxes down your Patch homepage? Use our boards to share your own thoughts, alert neighbors to the deadline and gather support for your side!
