State Auditor to Present Brentwood Audit Tuesday

State Auditor Tom Schweich will present the audit and take questions at the Brentwood Recreation Center.

Brentwood residents will find out on Tuesday what the Missouri state auditor found with an audit of the city's books.

The audit was triggered in 2011 when supporters gathered 869 valid signatures, 287 more than the 581 needed to trigger a petition audit. Those figures are from an announcement of the meeting from State Auditor Tom Schweich's office.

Following the then Brentwood city administrator Chris Seemayer's guilty plea to stealing nearly $30,000 from the city and a scandal surrounding the Brentwood Fire Department, Brentwood residents Julie Pozzo and Maureen Saunders led the effort to petition the state for the audit. Saunders is now an alderwoman of Ward 1.

Schweich will present the audit findings of the City of Brentwood, and take questions, on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Brentwood Recreation Center, 2505 South Brentwood Boulevard. The event is open to the public.

A draft of the audit was shown to Brentwood's mayor and aldermen in a closed meeting in January for the purpose of adding their response to the final draft.
