Deep Travel - Vacation Style

Coming back from vacation can bring a whole different perspective to the things that are closest to us. Deep travel has returned.

fter two weeks of being away on vacation, I realized the power of escaping the neighborhood in order to return to deep travel at home. When you are buried in your neighborhood day in and day out, you begin to miss things. All of the daily travels becomes as though you are traveling with 20:100 vision, blurry with no details emerging anywhere.

This became clear as I walked past the pawn shop on Manchester, a place that I have walked by hundreds of times, and right there in the window was a beautiful Trek road bike. I started thinking that I've seen that bike for weeks or months, but I have never noticed the quality of the bike. I was blinded by the familiarity of the situation.

How many places do we pass each day that have something that could add to our day, make us smile or push our thinking, but we cruise right on by to get to the next thing on the list?

With an extra day for many of us over the 4th of July holiday, it is an incredible time for some deep travel. Walk to a place away from your house, but less than 300 yards away, stop, wait for 20 seconds, and then take a panoramic look at your location. Deep travel has started, and you will certainly see something a little different.

This is my personal blog. You should know that I work for the MRH School District. So please take everything written here as my own, and not representative of MRH.
