Brentwood School District Accredited an A+ School

Scholarships and tuition benefits are available for eligible graduates of Brentwood High school.

The Brentwood School District is pleased to announce their accreditation as an A+ School. The A+ program is designed to provide full tuition for students who want to further their educational career by attending an approved Missouri college or technical school.

Students who opt to participate in the program must complete 50 hours of school-sponsored tutoring, a 95% overall attendance rate, 2.5 cumulative grade point average, and good citizenship prior to graduation from . They must also attend an A+ eligible high school for at least three years, be a U.S. Citizen, and make a good faith effort to secure other forms of financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

A new addition to the requirements will begin with the class of 2015; students will also be required to obtain a score of proficient or advanced on the Algebra 1 End of Course exam in order to take advantage of the A+ funds.

The total costs of the scholarship/funding that is available to students will vary. The tuition amount eligible for reimbursement is capped at the published standard per credit hour tuition rate charged by Linn State Technical College.

For the 2011-2012 academic year*, the maximum rate is $149 per credit hour or $4 per clock-hour. This amount can be applied to participating community colleges and technical schools in Missouri. Some four-year colleges and universities in Missouri and surrounding states choose to offer their own scholarships to students who complete the A+ program.

“It is a terrific program for any student to take advantage of,” said Ivy Hutchison, A+ Coordinator. “Even students who don’t think they will go to a technical school or community college can benefit from it,” she said.

It is recommended that students should sign up prior to the first week of their senior year.
