Blue Devils Win Big in Away Saturday Game

MRH blanks Perryville with seven touchdowns and a field goal.

football played 80 miles south in Perryville, MO, on Saturday afternoon, and came home with a 52-0 win.

When contacted by phone, MRH coach Brandon Gregory said that everyone on his team was involved in the win.

Sophomores Karon Thomas and Cortland Brooks, junior Kahlid Hagens and freshman Elijah Keely all made it into the end zone.

Stats from the game weren't immediately available, but Gregory will record the stats after the coaches watch film of the game (which we will pass on to you, of course).

Senior kicker John Barron hit a 42-yard field goal, which just missed breaking the Perryville field record by a yard. He was a perfect seven-for-seven on his point-after conversions.

They were up 38-0 at halftime.

When Gregory spoke to the team at the half, “I told them if they played like that against Country Day and Ste. Genevieve, I doubt if we’d have any losses,” he said.

He said JV got in in the second half, but it was a continuous clock, and with both teams running ball, the second half lasted only 15 to 20 minutes.

Gregory is feeling good about the team as the Devils head into the second half of the season.

“Timing is looking good. They’re playing physical. The mistakes they were making at the beginning of the year, they’re not making anymore,” he said.

“We’re pulling it together the right time of the season, so I’m proud of them,” Gregory said. “Just got to keep going.”

The win puts MRH at 4-2. Next Friday night they head south again, this time to Fredericktown (2-4).
